Fortrose and Rosemarkie
The 15th oldest golf club in the world, founded in 1793. The course was redesigned by James Braid in 1932 and what a fantastic course he produced. A true original links golf course with some spectacular holes and views.
Kings Course Inverness
“The newly opened King’s Course in Inverness, designed by up and coming Scottish golf architect Stuart Rennie, is a superb addition to the other fine courses in the Highlands of Scotland. I believe it has the potential to host championships in the near future.” Bernard Gallacher OBE.
Muir of Ord Golf Club
Scottish Golf Club of the Year 2016. A friendly Par 68 golf course designed by James Braid and only 2 miles from the Priory Hotel. One of the most fun and best kept courses in the north of Scotland.
Tain Golf Course
Known as Old Tom Morris's Northern Jewel. Tain Golf Course overlooks the Dornoch Firth, Tain arguably offers one of the best settings imaginable in the highlands for a round of links golf . With sea on one side and the backdrop of the mountains behind, every day brings a different aspect to this challenging and beautiful course.
Designed in 1890 by Old Tom Morris, the layout of the holes guarantees an interesting round for beginners or experts. The sheltered location of the course ensures favourable weather for most of the year.
Visitors should be aware of the likely distractions to their concentration on play - the mountains and seascapes, the otters, deer, pine martins, heron, buzzards, ospreys, various ducks and seabirds, sky larks and so much more.
Moray Old Course
Moray Golf Club was founded in 1889 and formally opened on 30th March of that year. The Old Course was laid out by Old Tom Morris who became a frequent visitor and played a number of exhibition matches in the early years. In these early years of Moray Golf Club, the membership included a number of distillers and the effects of their vision and foresight continue to be enjoyed by members to the present day.
The old course is considered to be one of the finest links courses in Scotland. A classic links designed by Old Tom Morris with deep revetted bunkers, undulating gorse lined fairways and smooth fast greens. It is a superb test of golf with seven par fours over 400 yards.
Henry Cotton's preference for precision golf can be seen with the shorter but somewhat tighter new course with greens smaller than the Old but every bit as good, and equally challenging and rewarding.
Moray Golf Club is truly one of Scotland's gems, a fitting tribute to the artistry of Old Tom Morris and Henry Cotton and a must for golfers visiting the area. Where else could you follow in the footsteps of Old Tom Morris and Henry Cotton in the same day?
