Our History
The Priory Hotel was built by Stuart and Eveline Hutton and it opened for business in 1972. Stuart is still involved to this day and has spent his whole working life ensuring that guests who visit the Priory Hotel enjoy themselves and want to return.
In December 2018 Stuart sold his business to his loyal staff who set up an Employee Trust and they now own and run the hotel. Stuart can't stay away and most days is around and makes sure everything is still running as well as ever and standards are being maintained.
Beauly itself is indeed the gateway to the North, East and West of Scotland and is only around 10 miles from Inverness, 25 miles from Loch Ness, 45 miles from Ullapool and only 70 miles from Skye. Beauly is ideally situated to start and finish your journey on the famous North Cost 500 road trip.
The Priory Hotel itself is approximately 100 yards from the ancient priory monastery (built in 1230AD) which has been visited by many Royals over the years, the most historically famous being Mary Queen of Scots who visited Beauly in 1564.
The ties between Beauly and the surrounding areas with the romantic Outlander books and television series are boundless. If you have found yourself overwhelmed by the saga then the Priory Hotel is an ideal base for your trip.
